What an FFL08 actually does

Importing regulated goods into the U.S. isn't a matter of paying for shipping — it requires an import permit approved before the goods leave the origin country. The Form 6 (ATF Form 5330.3A) is that permit application; the Form 6A documents the goods when they're released. As the holder of an FFL08 importer license, we file both under our own license and act as the importer of record, so you're not trying to get a permit you can't legally hold.

On arrival the shipment still has to clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection. We handle the CBP entry alongside the ATF paperwork so the two line up and the goods aren't sitting in a bonded warehouse accruing fees because one form contradicts the other.

What can and can't come in

Not everything is importable — the ATF applies a "sporting purposes" test to many firearms, and some categories are effectively barred regardless of paperwork. What is importable, we import for anyone, with no minimums: firearms, ammunition, de-milled parts kits, parts, and more, from any country it's legal to import from. Every import is validated as legal before anything happens — starting with the Form 6 — so you don't pay for a shipment that gets refused at the border.

The importer's marking

Federal law requires every imported firearm to be engraved with the importer's identity before it moves on — there is no legal way around it. We cut the marking on our own fiber laser at our facility, placed as discreetly as the firearm allows, and it reads exactly like this:
